American Legion Unit 10 Auxiliary

President's Message

We have a great group to work with! Our sewing group, headed by Carolyn Warden USN, meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 9am and work with young ladies from the Oak Creek facility in Albany, when they are available. They make quilts for our veterans as well as many other items as requested by the care facilities. They also provide items for ABC House and other local charities.

We hold fundraisers throughout the year to fund this project and others. Each year we take applications to send junior class students to Girls State each year. Donations to this program are always welcome as it costs $300 per student to attend this week long program. Many of these graduates from Girls State have gone on to become well respected members of our local and state businesses and have gone on to represent our State at National Girls State.

Depending on our donations and fundraising successes, we have recently been able to offer one or more $500 continuing education scholarships to Military families in our community.

We have many other projects that we would welcome our members to participate in and encourage all of you that are eligible for membership to consider attending one of our meetings to see who we are and what we are all about. Remember, we are now allowed to accept all military spouses, regardless of gender and the membership requirements for Legionnaires is service from December 7, 1941 to date.

Thank you for supporting our Veterans, their families and our community!
